Leroy’s Tavern – Evansville, IN

Leroy’s Tavern in Evansville, Indiana caught our eye in a big way. The owner’s daughter, Niki, is so passionate about this place, and everyone at Leroy’s is passionate about the community. They always have excellent drink specials, and you’d better believe they support local businesses, local charities, local football, and local people.

It’s hard to find a good photo of the building’s exterior, but a woman named Linda Burton created this lovely portrait (above), and her son’s poetry is often featured on the bar’s social media.

Leroy’s has been an Evansville staple for 50 years. It was opened in 1970 by Leroy and Shirley Baize, and when Leroy passed away in 2011, their daughter, Terri, took over. Terri retired from her career and opened the tavern on contract, and her daughter, Niki, has worked there for 21 years. They are in the 2nd generation of ownership with the 3rd and 4th generations running operations.

This place is a rarity, one of the few bars left where the employees and patrons have grown up together and created a true second family. Come here for a family outing, a night out with the squad, or for a first date. Watch the game, listen to live music, and catch up on Evansville gossip. Above all, make sure you say hello to Terri, her daughter, and her grandkids. You’re sure to see at least a few of them there!

With rave reviews like “awesome pizza and karaoke”, “Great people and cheap drinks”, and “They are all like family and the wings are killer,” there is no way you can pass up Leroy’s Tavern. If you’re ever traveling through Indiana, stop on by!

(Merry Christmas from their elves on the shelf: Indy and Hoosier. If you need a little holiday pick me up be sure to check out their Facebook page for peek at the elves’ shenanigans!)
